Yellow Brass Wire
This part copper, part zinc alloy makes a shining yellow wire that is quite like gold. Brass 260, aka cartridge brass’ a popular alternative to using gold wire for many projects, as well as making it a great choice to learn and practice wire jewelry techniques on. Due to sharing not only the look, but malleability of gold, it makes it a favorite among jewelers for crafting purposes. It is also a great green alternative as brass is predominately a recycled material!

Red Brass Wire
Brass 230, aka ‘red brass’ is another alternative to using gold wire, often composed of copper, zinc and tin. While it has a misleading name, being named ‘red brass’ after its alloy, it is a true gold color. This makes it a great and much more cost effective alloy to use over gold-filled wire as it shares the look without sharing the price. Red brass is a much tougher and sturdier alloy than yellow brass, due to its higher concentration of copper.
